Storytelling

Personal films exploring memory, faith, family, identity and the ordinary moments that stay with us.

The challenge

Personal filmmaking asks a different question from commissioned work: what feels important enough to make, even when nobody has asked for it? My films often begin with a thought, a voice or an ordinary moment I cannot quite leave alone.

What we did

I developed stories from experiences around me, sometimes planning carefully through notes, boards and custom storyboarding tools and sometimes trusting the moment in front of the camera. I use framing, sound, colour, interviews or spoken words to bring viewers close to the feeling behind an idea.

The tools behind the story

The gear and technical process matter because they help me express ideas: Canon R5, sound recording, controlled exposure, and intentional colour work in DaVinci Resolve and Dehancer.

What we set up

  • Ideas and notes gathered from real life
  • Script and voiceover development where appropriate
  • Shot design and personal storyboarding workflows
  • Canon R5 and lenses selected for each scene
  • Sound recording, editing and cinematic grading

What we delivered

An evolving collection of independent short films, experiments and personal visual essays.

The outcome

The work has become a way to make sense of what I notice and experience, and a creative practice that also shapes how I approach paid productions.

In their words
“Art is the patience to process pain instead of shouting about it.”
